VetsEZ Deploys Integrated PDMP Solution to Help VA Combat the Veterans’ Opioid Crisis

Healthcare Providers Have Access to a Complete History of Veteran Prescriptions to Combat Opioid Addiction and Overdoes Fatalities

San Diego, CA: Veterans EZ Info Inc. (VetsEZ), the prime contractor supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) State Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), today announced the full national production release of the PDMP solution, following the success of initial releases at two VA Medical Centers.

The successful PDMP deployment, led by VetsEZ with support from partners J2 Interactive, Appriss Health and Mind Computing, is a major milestone for VA in its goal to enhance the existing manual PDMP process which fulfills the MISSION Act Section 134, allowing VA to participate in the national network of State-based prescription drug monitoring programs. These programs arm healthcare providers with the necessary information to improve patient safety and the overall quality of care, also allowing them to query all available states and territories, and not just their own location, to get complete and cohesive controlled substance prescription history to help better treat their patients.

“It has been wonderful for VA to partner with VetsEZ on our project to ensure the safe prescribing of Controlled Substances.  As a Primary Care Provider and a clinician leader within VA, I understand the value of being able to review comprehensive Prescription Drug Monitoring Program data in real time, at the point of care, and within the Electronic Health Record workflow of the VA.  VetsEZ is helping us get there with their knowledge, expertise, skills, and ability to partner with other entities outside of the VA Enterprise,” said a VA Primary Care Lead Physician/Deputy Chief Medical Officer.

The initial release reached over 500 healthcare providers and licensed delegates treating some of our nation’s heroes. Now with this full national release, more than 19,000 healthcare providers and licensed delegates will have access to this information.

“We are proud to continue to support VHA in advancing their effectiveness of improving Veterans health and well-being. The addition of our nationwide PDMP searching capability greatly enhances the VA’s aggressive, multi-pronged approach to curbing the Veteran opioid crisis,” said Mr. James Miner, President and Chief Executive Officer of VetsEZ. “This solution increases the ease of access of participating States and National VHA EHR at the point of care to help healthcare providers make critical clinical decisions,” Mr. Miner continued. “We could not be more honored to be a part of the outstanding collaborations it took to get us here.”

This news comes in the wake of VetsEZ’s recent prime contract award on the 10-year, $2.5 billion multi-award OneIT IDIQ vehicle to provide information technology services to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
